Sewanee, Tennessee is a quaint town nestled in the foothills of the Cumberland Plateau — part of the Appalachian Mountains — and home to the University of the South, commonly known as “Sewanee." With 13,000 acres and just 2,600 residents, Sewanee is a playground for the outdoorsy with endless trails for hiking, biking, and discovering pristine lakes and vistas.

Built inside a 1929 mansion that presumably once was financed by Al Capone. The mansion that houses the restaurant was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997 and still features the original escape hatches and underground tunnels that were used by Capone to transfer liquor during the Prohibition Era.

Renovated by award-winning architect Gil Hanse in 2013. While the original hole routing remains the same, Hanse redesigned every other aspect of the course—including all nine green complexes, challenging new bunkers, and a distinct set of alternate tees—while being ever mindful of the delicate ecosystem on the Cumberland Plateau.

Sewanee offers 65 miles of hiking trails including the signature Perimeter Trail, a 20-mile loop that can walked in sections. Access points include the Sewanee Village, the Memorial Cross, Lake Cheston, Green's View, and the University Gates.
We especially recommend visiting the Memorial Cross and Green's View for gorgeous vistas!
